EXPO SEASON!

Sorry, I was channeling the old Looney Toons cartoon 'Rabbit Fire' which ends with Bugs & Daffy finding out it's really Elmer Season.

But seriously, it really is Expo season for us and things get even more hectic than usual for us this time of year. The season kicked off last weekend when we were at the Natural Living Expo. (Sorry for not sending this newsletter out last week, but, again, things get pretty hectic for us this time of year!) We had a great time at NLE. We saw lots of familiar faces and met many new folks as well!

Update on Great Cloth Diaper Change

We finally have a location for the Des Moines area Great Cloth Diaper Change event! Drum roll, please... We will be meeting at Val Air Ballroom! Thank you very much, Chewi, for agreeing to let us use your facility for free!

For those of you who don't know about it yet, the Great Cloth Diaper Change is an attempt to raise awareness of cloth diapering and set a Guinness World Record in the same event! On Saturday, April 23rd, 2011, at exactly 9:30am PDT (11:30am in Des Moines) we are trying to have the most babies changed simultaneously around the world. And the best part is that all of the diapers being changed will be cloth!

As you would expect with an event that is trying to be recognized by Guinness as a World Record, there is some paperwork and documentation that needs to be done. We are asking that everyone arrive no later than 11:00am to facilitate these requirements. We will be posting a registration form on our website shortly that will allow participants to download the form and fill it out prior to the event. This will speed things up on the day. Look for an announcement on Facebook that this form is available.

We will also need witnesses for this event - at least one for every 50 participants. Witnesses must be non-participants who do not derive any gain from the event. Please email Lauri if you would like to volunteer to be a witness or help with check in.

We want to make this more of an "event" than just show up, do some paperwork, change your baby and leave. So, we're expanding the event to be from 10:00am to 12:00noon. There will be door prizes, goody bags for the first 100 participants, activities and refreshments. Barber Photography will be there to help document the Change. They will also set up a photo studio and take "diaper photos" of your little ones. 'Like' them on Facebook and they will give you a free print of your favorite shot. The Des Moines Great Cloth Daiper Change is a joint event of Lauri & Tommy at Little Padded Seats, Sarah at Wallypop, Amanda at The Stork Wearhouse and Andrea of Diaper Dudee. On April 23rd let's fill Val Air Ballroom to capacity and show the world how large and united Des Moines' cloth diapering community is!
