Authentic Chinese Prefold Diapers
Chinese prefolds are very durable and practical cloth diapers. Often referred to as "DSQ" or "diaper service quality", these prefolds are durable enough to withstand the industrial washings used by diaper services. After researching the several excellent brands of Chinese prefolds on the market, we chose to carry the Green Earth Textile brand. These are the only Chinese prefolds truly made in China.
Prefolds are used for diapers (with covers/wraps), burp cloths, diaper doublers (preemie and infant sizes), changing pads and cleaning rags (after finished using on babies). They are economical, very absorbent, extremely durable, easy care, 100% cotton, and quick drying. Chinese prefolds will last through as many babies as you can put them through! If you are using prefolds directly on your baby with a wrap or cover, you may want to line them with fleece liners.
Choices in Chinese Prefolds, commonly called CPF:
Green Earth Textiles' Chinese prefolds are available in bleached (white) and unbleached (natural).
Unbleached prefold cloth diapers are made from untreated cotton. They are natural in color, thus hiding stains better. Unbleached prefolds also tend to be a little softer than bleached prefolds. You will notice a slight natural "waxy" coating on them when they arrive. Initially wash 4-5 times in HOT water and dry between washings to remove this coating and "fluff up" the diapers and they will be ready for use.
Bleached prefolds have been processed to obtain their pristine, bright white color. When they arrive, these will require 2 regular washings and dryings to "fluff up" and become absorbent.
Both types work wonderfully. The choice is only a personal one as to whether to use bleached or unbleached prefold diapers.
Also, both types will "pill" some for a while. Pilling is normal and will decrease and disappear with time. Allow for up to 10% shrinkage.
